Our school's mission is to that of an inclusive community committed to the achievement of student excellence within a dynamic global landscape. Personal and academic accomplishment is developed through creative thought, rigorous intellectual inquiry, the ideal of citizenship and deepening respect for oneself and others.
Our commitment to academic success
Success is promoted through the teaching and exploration of multiple literacies, the Visual arts and Multimedia Program, Community Learning Centre, and the diversification of learning pathways; an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, Bilingual Studies or a Core English syllabus. The variety of curricular frameworks is organized to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population.
Community Learning Centre
Community Learning Centres are partnerships that provide a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of learners, their families, and the wider community. Their aim is to support the holistic development of citizens and communities. Learn more about Laurier Macdonald's Community Learning Centre by visiting our CLC page.
The importance of parent engagement
Study after study shows that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children’s education. Good schools become even better when parents are involved. Students are more likely to be motivated, to earn higher grades, to have better behaviour and social skills, and to continue their education to a higher level when their parents are actively engaged in supporting their success at school.
Parent engagement goes hand-in-hand with effective communication with your teenager’s school and teacher.
