The Fun For All Fair Brings Inclusive and Adapted Play to All!

Montreal - Monday, April 9, 2018

Play is an integral part of all of our lives. For a child with special needs, play time is often taken up by a multitude of therapies. For the first time ever, Inspirations Newspaper and Make It Matter will present the Fun For All Fair, a gathering of inclusive and adapted recreational resources that service the Greater Montreal and surrounding areas, all under one roof.  It will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4  p.m. at the St. Laurent Adult Centre ( 2405 Place Lafortune West)  in St. Laurent.

The FFAF is not your average exhibition. At this free event that is open to the public, everyone is welcome to try activities, from karate to tennis, ballet to wheelchair basketball and boccia, and much more. This interactive event promises to bring play back into all of our lives.

“While therapies are critical, children can also learn through recreation,” shares Linda Mahler, chair of the FFAF and coordinator of educational outreach for Inspirations. “Recreation builds strength, communication, cognitive abilities and coordination skills. Having fun and learning through sport and play is therapeutic.”

“As a parent, I would certainly seek out the necessary resources for my child, but they also need to have fun,” adds Mahler. “It is important for parents to meet the people behind the resources and see them interact and play with your child. That is much more meaningful than finding a resource through a website or in the newspaper.”

The Fun For All Fair will be engaging and vibrant. The event is inspired by the many families who are in search of recreational activities that will include their children, teens and adults with special needs. In addition, the FFAF hopes to attract other recreational services and encourage them to provide adapted and inclusive activities.

All exhibitors will set up a play station that will welcome and challenge people to try their activity, whether they have physical or intellectual disabilities, are neurotypical or able-bodied. All are welcome to try something new and have fun while doing it.

This unique event is made possible due to the generous funding of Make It Matter. Thanks to media sponsor The Real Parents Show on CJAD 800.
